After The Game Car Ride Home…

What do you talk about?

I have had face-to-face interviews with over 300 MLB players, managers, coaches and Hall of Famers, and on every “how do you…” question I asked them, “How do you get over making an error?  How do you prepare for success?  How do you deal with adversity?  Each player explained or talked about the process of my question; not the result.

You hear athletes from all different sports talk about focusing on the process or trusting in whatever process they’re working on, that by doing so, the desired results will come.

But many times as athletes, fans and parents – the discussion is about the results.  How many hits did you get?  How many runs did you score?  How many strike outs did you have?  What was the score?  Did you win or lose?
